Tony’s Seafood was originally established by Anton ‘Tony’ Konatich, a Croatian fisherman hailing from the Isle of Iz. The year was 1948, and Marshall was a bustling port sending weekly shipments of fresh butter, milk, and seafood south to San Francisco on the single gauge rail. Anton eventually brought his family over from Iz and opened Tony’s to sell and serve his fish in the local community. The Konatich family ran Tony’s for three generations, serving locals and travelers alike heaps of seafood and sea stories, peppered with a dash of grit – staples of Marshall.

In 2017, Hog Island Oyster Co. was offered the opportunity to purchase Tony’s from the family. Co-founders John Finger and Terry Sawyer jumped at the chance to revive and restore the historical, local icon. “Tony’s means so much to so many people.” Says John Finger “Tomales Bay and the surrounding hills connect us all with a sense of place. Tony’s has always been the hub for gathering and celebrating these connections. We want to preserve this, paying homage to the stories, traditions, and foods of old, while creating a space to welcome in new ones.”
