Hog Island Culinary Director Chef Kiino has you covered for some next-level crab dip. The addition of Black Bean Garlic sauce adds a wonderful layer of funky umami (this ingredient can be found in most grocery stores in the Asian food section).
1 big 'ol bowl
Ingredients:
- 12 oz. Crab Meat
- 8 oz. Cream Cheese (room temperature)
- 2 TBSP mayonnaise
- 2 TBSP Sour Cream
- 2 tsp Chinese Black Bean Garlic Sauce (or a bit more to taste)
- 1/2 cup Scallions, minced
- 2 TBSP Cilantro, chopped
- 1 tsp Garlic, grated
- 1 tsp Fresh Ginger, grated
- 1 tsp Sriracha (or more to taste)
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
- 1/2 cup Fried Shallots
- 1 Lime, juiced
- Salt + Pepper, to taste
Preheat oven to 375° f. In a medium-sized bowl, mix half of the crab meat with cream cheese, mayo, sour cream, black bean sauce, scallions, garlic, ginger, cilantro, and parmesan cheese. Season with lime juice, salt, and pepper.
Once everything is mixed and seasoned, fold in the remaining crab meat, leaving some bigger pieces. Put the crab mixture in a small baking dish and sprinkle fried shallots over the top.
Bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until heated through and toasty on top. Serve with bread, chips, or vessel of choice!
