Nestled in the shadow of an old wooden boat, Hog Island Oyster Co.’s rustic oyster bar is open for your bay-to-bar experience. At The Boat Oyster Bar, we shuck and grill oysters for you – along side the bay in which they’ve grown - and offer a selection of local cheese, charcuterie, wine, beer and house-made seasonal fare. All seating is outdoors at communal (shared) picnic tables with table-side service Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon 11 – 5. Seats may be reserved for 1 1/2 hour bookings. Please, no outside food allowed.

To make a reservation, click on your preferred date on the calendar. To cancel please email farm@hogislandoysters.com with CANCEL BOAT RES as the subject line. Include your name, date and reservation time in the email body. Please cancel by 8 AM, day of, to avoid a $10 per person ‘No show’ fee. Please note all picnic tables at The Boat Oyster Bar are communal (shared).

If you prefer to Shuck-Your-Own oysters, please go to Shuck-Your-Own picnic page under Marshall to book a reservation. Or, purchase oysters to go from our retail Hog Shack at the farm and head to one of our beautiful area parks or beaches. We also sell shucking knifes, gloves, cheese and wine to go.

All seating at The Boat Oyster Bar is outdoors beside the bay. We recommend wearing layers and bringing sunscreen, hats and sunglasses. Our marine weather changes quickly.

  1. What is changing? Why?

    Beginning April 1, The Boat Oyster Bar at Hog Island Oyster Farm moved to reservation-only seating. Why? To protect and preserve the relaxed and genuine experience at the farm, as demand grows. In addition, we have added new seasonal menu items handmade in our Marshall kitchen – follow our weekly offerings on Hog Island Facebook.com.

  2. Can I bring some of my own food?

    No outside food is allowed.

  3. Are there grills available?

    There are no grills available, but we offer BBQ’d oysters.

  4. How many people can I bring?

    You can make a reservation for parties from 2-16 people.

  5. What reservation times are available?

    11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00 and 3:30.
    Each reservation is for an hour and a half time period.

  6. Are there walk-in tables available on weekends?

    No, all tables are by reservation only.

  7. Is there a picnic fee?

    No picnic fee. This is a casual, outdoor restaurant with a la carte food.

  8. Will it be hard to park?

    We have complimentary Valet Parking. If you have a large party, please car pool.

  9. What happens if it rains? Is there covering?

    We’re open rain or shine….

  10. What time shall I arrive?

    Please be on time and arrive at the start of your reservation. We can not extend your reservation period.

  11. What’s the cancellation policy?

    If you need to cancel, please do so through SeatMe at least 24 hrs. in advance.

  12. What if I leave some of my things behind?

    Our Lost and Found Department will hold left-behind articles for 30 days. Call 415 663-9218 x 201, M-F, 9-3.
