Hog Island Oyster Co.: Creating a premium quality, farm-to-market oyster experience was Hog Island Oyster Co.’ dream nearly 30 years ago and continues to be the founders’ driving vision today. With $500.00 borrowed from their parents and a boat borrowed from their neighbor three young partners set out raising oysters on a five-acre lease at the north end of Tomales Bay, CA. Today, Hog Island Oyster Co. leases 160 acres in Tomales Bay and raises over 3 million oysters, Manila clams and mussels each year. Hog Island Oyster Co. owns and operates oyster bars in San Francisco, Napa and Marshall, CA.  A leader in sustainable seafood, in 2011, Hog Island Oyster Co. was awarded one of the nation’s first Certificates of Sustainable Shellfish Production by the Food Alliance. www.hogislandoysters.com

Cakebread Cellars: Over 39 years ago, Jack Cakebread came to photograph the Napa Valley for a book and while here, he casually mentioned his interest in one day owning a vineyard to some family friends who had a ranch in Rutherford. When he returned home that afternoon, the phone rang and it was the family friends offering to sell their property. He headed back up to the valley that same afternoon to make his best offer, and Cakebread Cellars was born. http://www.cakebread.com
